~おきに
At regular intervals
You'll be able to describe actions or spacing that repeat after a fixed interval.

母は一日おきに花に水をやります。
haha wa ichinichi oki ni hana ni mizu o yarimasu.
What do you think this sentence means?

Leave a regular gap
~おきに describes repeated events separated by a gap. With 一日おきに, one whole day is skipped, giving an every-other-day pattern.
三十分おきにバスが来ます。
sanjuppun oki ni basu ga kimasu.
A bus comes every thirty minutes.
Form and use ~おきに
For hours and minutes, 一時間おきに normally means every hour. For days or counted objects, pay attention to the skipped unit: 一日おきに is every other day. Confirm the actual schedule instead of translating every phrase mechanically.
三十分おきにバスが来ます。
sanjuppun oki ni basu ga kimasu.
A bus comes every thirty minutes.
椅子を一つおきに使います。
isu o hitotsu oki ni tsukaimasu.
We use every other chair.
Every day or every other day
With days, 一日ごとに includes each day. 一日おきに leaves one whole day between occasions. For hours and minutes, おきに usually gives the actual interval, so this day-based contrast does not transfer directly.
