Package the content of a statement
~ということ treats a whole statement as a fact or message. You can then say you know, understand, or heard that information. It can also introduce a summary of what something implies.

Form and use ~ということ
Keep tense and negation inside the clause. Noun and な-adjective predicates retain だ: 休みだということ. The resulting phrase takes particles such as を or が; it is not a name followed by a category noun.
