~のに (although)
The result goes against what you expected
You'll be able to contrast a fact with a surprising, disappointing, or frustrating result.

takusan renshuu shita noni, shiai ni makete shimaimashita.
What do you think this sentence means?

Point out a surprising contradiction
~のに connects a fact with an unexpected result. It often conveys disappointment or surprise because reality conflicts with what the first clause would suggest.

Although I slept a lot, I am still sleepy.
Form and use ~のに (although)
Nouns and な-adjectives need な before のに. This use normally connects actual situations, not an imagined “even if.” Purpose のに is a separate pattern.
たくさん寝たのに、まだ眠いです。

Although I slept a lot, I am still sleepy.
日曜日なのに、仕事があります。
nichiyoubi na noni, shigoto ga arimasu.
