When typing Romaji to produce Hiragana, three rules matter most: (1) Double the consonant (kk, tt, pp, ss, tch) to write a small っ (as in きって, kitte). (2) Combine y-sounds like kya (きゃ), shu (しゅ), cho (ちょ), nya (にゃ), and ryo (りょ) for contracted yōon syllables. (3) Before a vowel or y-sound, type 'nn' or "n'" to force syllabic ん (for example, 'konnichiwa' → こんにちは).
If you paste Katakana words that contain the long-vowel mark (ー) or convert an English word into Hiragana, the converter keeps ー just as Japanese writers do (コーヒー → こーひー). Choose “Spell Out Vowels” in Options to write the long vowel out instead (こおひい).
